09/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Colin continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Colin improved arm velocity and exit velocity to 76 MPH during his last workout at Pirate City. He is a physical 3B that works from an athletic fielding position and he presents his glove well. Colin has a good 1st step to the ball, he gains momentum toward his target, and he delivers the ball with accuracy. At the plate he works from a square set up with relaxed hands and a level swing. He shows the ability to work gap to gap with solid, consistent barrel contact. An aggressive hitter, Colin also showed the ability to make some nice adjustments in game play. He improved his hit tool grade to 40. From an intangible standpoint, he showed the knack to be a good teammate throughout the event.

10/26/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Colin is a coachable 3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He generates fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid contact. Colin can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing path. Overall, Colin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/28/2019 - College PREP - Washington, DC Colin is a lean, athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball showed a range of 67-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. He throws a knuckleball that is a pitch still in development. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Colin has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
