07/18/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Minneapolis, MN Colin is a coachable 1B prospect who has a projectable build. As a right-handed hitter, Colin has a tall, square setup with his weight on his heels. He has a short, square stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Colin gives a great effort and battles through his ABs. He has an in and out swing path and is developing bat speed. Collin is a contact type hitter who has a middle of the field approach. In the field, Colin plays with effective pre-pitch actions and covers good ground. He presents his glove and attacks the baseball as he fields it in a square position. Colin has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistent throws across the diamond. Overall, Colin is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to advance his game with development.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Colin is a hardworking 1B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Colin has a tall, open setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He is a patient hitter who knows the strike zone. Colin has a square stride as his lower half leads his swing. He has good hand eye coordination consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. Colin shows the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Colin works hard and attacks the ball with an aggressive approach. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Colin has a restricted arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows accurate throws and can benefit from working through the ball. On the mound, Colin has a pitchers frame and works quickly with good tempo. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a high effort arm action. Colin can benefit from a longer stride to use his size. He features a fastball and curveball. Overall, Colin is a coachable prospect who plays the game loose and is not afraid to be a leader.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
