Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

11/08/2020 - All-In Membership - Columbia, SC Collier continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He work to get behind and play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape late / sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight run but throws too hard resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/26/2020 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Collier is a thin 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Collier has active/aggressive feet, he takes good routes, and he catches fly balls at the highest point. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and Collier throws with accuracy and carry from a long arm action to his cut off man. Lighter footwork and working behind the ball quicker can help improve defense. On the mound, Collier has eyes on target, on-time separation, and he works in good tempo. His FB touches 72 MPH, and he has good direction toward home plate. Looser actions, more arm extension, and added arm strength will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Collier has an open stance, quick hands and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, shows fast bat speed, and he makes hard consistent contact using his lower 1/2. Staying short and added strength will help solid hitting get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
