11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Collin is an athletic and hard-working 2023 catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Collin starts in a balanced primary and has a staggered secondary stance. He works behind the ball and controls balls in the strike zone when receiving. He has a clean exchange in front of his body, a quick release, and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing to the bases. He needs to continue to lead with his glove, and be on time when blocking. Improving hip mobility and anticipating balls in the dirt will improve his ability to move laterally to block. Collin has the ability to hit from both sides of the plate. On both sides he starts in an athletic stance, gets his front foot down on time, and stays balanced through contact. He hits off a firm front side and keeps the barrel on plane. From the left side he needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. From the right side he needs to continue to create backside rotation and keep a middle approach. Collin enjoys the game of baseball and will continue to improve with experience.

07/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Collin is a thin, 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Collin has active feet, he sits in low, and his hands are soft. He uses his body to block, sticks it well, and has pop times as low as 2.9 seconds to 2nd base. In the INF, Collin has soft hands, he fields low and athletically, and his exchange is clean with a quick/accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Collin is equally as good from both sides of the plate. From the right, he tracks well, swings aggressively, and is level throughout. From the left, Collin has a compact/repeatable swing, and he can work the ball to all fields. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
