Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

10/23/2019 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Collin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows active footwork and presents his glove out front to field. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. He has a quick release and allows his throws to remain accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through an athletic setup. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball with fast bat speed (86 mph exit velocity) which leads to hard contact. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/08/2019 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Collin is a RHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, Collin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Collin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 65-68mph with late 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-72mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Collin improve as a pitcher. In the field, Collin shows efficient footwork and fields in a square position. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Collin can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and sprays the ball to all fields. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Collin improve as a hitter. Overall, Collin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
