  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

11/03/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Collin is a tall SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Collin shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Getting rid of the ball quicker can help Collin improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap pop. Collin can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Collin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Collin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-59mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 65-68mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help Collin improve as a pitcher. Overall, Collin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Collin is a long two-way prospect who is a natural leader on the field and has a high baseball IQ. He can really defend at short with the range and arm strength to make all the tough plays expected of a shortstop. He has smooth actions and fluid feet to get quick jumps on the ball and work around to gain momentum to his target. He fields square and has soft, cleans hands to field and exchange to make quick and accurate DP feeds and throws. At the dish, he shows smooth actions to load and launch with strong, quick hands through the zone on a level path. He gets on plane early and stays balanced throughout his swing to make consistent contact and get extension to drive the ball to all fields. Working directly to the ball will allow him to cover any pitch and be a tougher out. On the hill, this righty has feel for pitching and sequencing to keep hitters off balance and shows good control to work the edges of the zone. He repeats his delivery well and gets to a consistent release point to create deception and make each pitch look the same out of his hand. Collin is an exciting prospect who we expect to continue improving all over the field.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Collin is a lanky RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with tailing action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Collin has potential on the bump with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
