07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Collin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground and makes the routine plays. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kapolei, HI Collin is a tall, athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and 1st base. In the OF, Collin has playable hands and feet, and he works behind fly balls properly. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and momentum toward his target. At 1st base, Collin moves around the bag well, he uses two hands, and has some accuracy to his target. Offensively, Collin has a tall set-up, a short stride, and a flat bat path. He has a simple swing, he keeps his hands inside the ball, and makes hard contact to the pull side. Collin can get better with work on the following.

1. Long toss
2. Quicken feet
3. Play lower

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
