Official Scouting Report

05/05/2024 - National Showcase - Boise, ID Colt continues to show his projectability to play at the next level as a 2025 grad. He displays a ton of agility, athletic frame and strong arm. As a hitter Colt has a solid line-drive approach, hard contact and an ability to spray the baseball all over the field. Defensively he projects both behind the dish and in the middle infield. In the infield he does a nice job attacking the baseball and throwing accurately from multiple arm slots. As a catcher he appears to really stand out with his ability to block, receive and throw with some good carry on the baseball. Great setup, quick feet and a solid ability to track the baseball.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Colt is a stocky and strong 5 ft 6/145 C/2B in the 2025 class. He recently impressed scouts with his athletic ability and levels of improvement at the AZ Recruiting Classic. Behind the plate, he has all the traits of being an excellent backstop who can run (7.21 speed) He creates a solid and square target and beats the ball to the spot with great glove extension. The ball sticks to his pocket and his catch to release actions are quick. Arm is fast and he controls the run game with 2.03-2.06 pop times/85 velo. He is quick to his knees on his blocks and creates a great spine angle. At the plate, he begins in a tall and athletic stance. His hands are comfortable and gets into his load well. Gains a short stride and stays squared to the dish. Balance stays inside his feet and he gets his barrel on-plane for advanced bat to ball skills. Has a solid showing in game action with a 1st at-bat double down the LF line and reached base 3 times via walk or error. Overall, Scouts loved his energy and work ethic and feel he will make a fine addition to a college roster very soon.

09/10/2023 - National Showcase - Boise, ID Colt is an excellent C/2B in the 2025 class. Behind the plate, he shows quickness and agility in his set-up. Gains a low and athletic stance and beats the ball to the spot with proper extension. Pocket has great feel and maintains his eyes behind the baseball. Exchange is quick and creates a short 3 qtr. slot for accurate feeds to the bag. Registered a best 1.98 with 80 arm velo. Shows advanced techniques with quick block and recover skills. On the dirt, he has solid pre-pitch movements and covers his defensive zone well. Hands work well from a low fielding position and he funnels to the middle of his body. Again, his arm plays well and demonstrates spot on accuracy with life. Shows advanced skills on his turns and feeds. At the plate, he stays inside his feet to generate hard contact. Hands are quick and can use the whole field. Flashed pull-side power with lots of upside. Overall, Colt is a great player who plays above grade. He is a must follow in the 2025 class.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
