01/18/2016 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Colton is a solid catcher who will graduate in 2017. Behind the plate, he utilizes his athletic feet well in working in line through a clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.25-2.38 with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup and tracks the ball well. He loads well and displays quick hands that work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he shows solid gap to gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he loads more and creates extension through the point of contact. Colton has abilities with a lot of room to improve and is a player to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
