06/09/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Colton is a prospect on the mound. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed range of 84-86 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with tailing action. Slider is harder with tight spin and late / sharp break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and locates to both sides of the plate.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Colton, once again, showed a compact, repeatable delivery on an athletic frame. He was balanced, in line and his arm stroke is clean and easy. Colton's 3/4 slot produces lots of natural tailing action to his heavy fastball, and is a good enough pitch to go through most high school line-ups without having to throw anything else. He does complement the fastball with two breaking balls - a curve with tumbling action and a shorter-breaking slider, as well as a change. He has feel and confidence for all of his offerings. Overall, this is a LHP prospect to continue to follow closely.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Colton is an athletic LHP who is a prospect on the mound. Delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 86-90 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with tailing action. Command / control is outstanding as he locates well to both sides of the plate. Colton has a tremendous upside on the mound and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
