08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Colton brings a lot of energy to the field and plays the game with passion. He is very coachable and has a willingness to improve. Behind the dish, he sits in well presenting a low target and sticks pitches in the zone, framing well. He works hard laterally to body up pitches in the dirt, keeping them in front. Continuing to work on his blocking techniques will take his skills to the next level. Exchange is smooth with accurate throws down to 2B (pop times now at 2.12). With the bat, this RHH has a balanced/athletic setup with a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel through the zone with speed as he connects and hits line-drives. More lower 1/2 drive along with more extension through his finish will help to increase power at the plate. Cobb is a well-rounded athlete who has skills that will provide success on the diamond.

08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Colton showed consistent play ability on both sides of the ball at the Baseball Factory Pirate City World Series. Defensively, he showed decent blocking ability - working to take the glove directly down to the ball allowing the body to follow. He received with firm hands and worked to get his hands more subtle and consistent. Offensively, he was aggressive to attack the zone and got some extension through contact. He stayed behind the ball and when on-time showed some ability to hit with authority. All in all - Colton is a hard working player that was coachable and hustled on and off the field.

02/23/2014 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Colton is a catcher who excels at the plate. Offensively, this RH hitter shows a square setup with good balance. He gets back into a loaded position, waiting for his pitch. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone. He connects the ball and hits line-drives. Behind the plate, Cobb sits in well and tracks the ball into his mitt. When throwing down to 2B he gains ground and has a quick exchange with pop times as low as 2.19. Only a 2016 grad - Colton has skills yet still has time to develop his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
