07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Colton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. At the plate he continues to shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Colton is a talented 2025 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week. At 1B, Colton is on time with his prep step, he has a quick first step to the ball, and has a clean exchange on double plays. He picks the ball well but needs to improve his range on both sides of the ball. At the plate, Colton starts in a tall stance, creates rhythm in his hands, and gets his front foot down on time. He his off a firm front side, gets extension through contact, and shows pull side power. He needs to continue to keep a quiet head, stay balanced through contact, and creates backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, Colton shows good mound presence, gathers over the rubber, and has an athletic delivery. He needs to continue to separate on time and work north to south in his delivery. His best pitch is his fastball but he needs to continue to develop the change up before he continues with his curveball. Colton is eager to learn and will continue to improve with experience.

09/16/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Colton is a young, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Colton has a clean arm action, good balance, and he gets solid extension on his pitches. He has a controlled landing toward home, finishes in a complete position, and competes in the zone. At 1B, Colton has good pre-pitch actions, he takes good angles to the ball, and he gathers well toward his target with consistency across the diamond. At the plate, Colton has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has fast bat speed, makes consistent contact, and he works the ball gap to gap. Colton can further improve skills with work on the following.

2. Long toss
3. Stride-balance
Infield

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
