12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory Holiday Classic at Pirate City Colton is a skilled catcher from Melissa, TX, in the 2025 graduating class who worked diligently to improve his abilities at the Baseball Factory Pirate City Holiday Camp. Defensively, Colton starts in a relaxed primary stance with an easy sit and demonstrates solid footwork, replacing his feet quickly on throws to second base. His throws are strong and on the bag, with a best pop time of 2.2 seconds and an arm velocity of up to 82 mph. He creates good blocking angles, is quick down to his knees, and effectively covers the 5-hole. With a quicker exchange, Colton’s pop time could improve even further. As a leader behind the plate, he calls a good game, and pitchers enjoy throwing to him. At the plate, Colton starts in a square stance with his hands low and shows natural strength in his swing. He has a good ability to drive the ball to the pull side, with bat velocity up to 83 mph. During live game action, Colton made hard contact, including two doubles and a single, showcasing his power and consistency. Another season of growth and development will help him continue to refine his game and further elevate his skills.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
