01/04/2014 - College PREP - Lewiston, ME Colton is a 2-way player (RHP/3B) who has a projectable frame (6'0"/180 lbs). On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a fluid/free arm action. He works to a tall balance point, gathering over the rubber and drives off, working downhill toward the dish. FB tops out at 76 mph and shows sink, 'dropping off of the table'. Breaking ball is thrown with FB arm-speed and shows 11/5 shape. Colton gets good extension on his follow through and works to finish all pitches. At the hot corner, Lawrence shows good prep and works into a low/athletic fielding position. He fields from the ground-up, gathers well, and works in-line toward 1B. As a hitter, this righty displays a simple approach with a solid base. He lets the ball travel into the zone and sprays the ball to all fields. Increased power will come with more lower 1/2 drive. Overall - a solid 2-way player who should find success this upcoming season.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
