01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Colton is a solid, strong SS/RHP that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays tremendous defensive abilities as he utilizes his quick feet in his lateral movements, displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together as he displays smooth / fluid actions with big play potential. Throws display accuracy and carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, fastball showed in the low 80 range with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break and depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Colton has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his offensive / defensive abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
