06/20/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (HS) Colton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Colton is a SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Colton shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with good extension through the ball, producing solid line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Colton gathers over the rubber and works inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 56mph with 10-4 break. With five more years to develop, Colton has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Colton showed well at both SS and on the mound during his time in Arizona. He is an athletic SS with active feet, a soft/presentable glove, and he moves with agility to the baseball. Colton makes plays consistently, he has some range, and throws with accuracy from a quick release across the diamond. On the mound, Colton has good confidence, a loose arm action, and he finishes completely. He competes well in the zone and finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Colton has a tall/open stance, an activated load, and he swings on plane. He makes hard/consistent contact, he uses his lower body, and he hits with some strength to the pull side. Colton is a coachable young player with a bright future.

10/19/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Salt Lake City, UT Colton is an athletic RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2025. On the mound, Colton works with a loose arm and finishes with his chest over his front knee. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 55-56mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 58-59mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Colton shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap pop. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Lower half drive
Infield
1. Quicker double play exchange
Hitting
1. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
