06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS)
Colton is a 1B/LHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-State Tournament. In the field, Colton makes the routine plays and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and works through a direct swing, producing loud line drives. On the mound, Colton gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Colton operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 54-56mph with 1-7 break. Overall, Colton is a 2023 prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.
03/21/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Frisco (DFW), TX
Colton continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth, athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a level swing path with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, FB ranges from 58-60 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.
National Tryout Plus - Plainview (Lubbock), TX
Colton worked out at 1B during his last workout in Plainview, TX. He is a solid 1st baseman who makes plays consistently through a good fielding approach. Colton squares up well to the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a sense of urgency from a short/quick arm to his target. Offensively, Colton stands in the box squarely and athletically. He has good balance, a level swing path, and he keeps quiet shoulders throughout his swing.
11/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Midland, TX
Colton raised arm velocity to 66 MPH and exit velocity to 80 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. On the mound, Colton has good balance over the rubber and a loose arm action. He separates his hands on time, lands in a square position toward home, and he throws strikes. At 1st base, Colton has efficient footwork, a presentable glove, and a good glove angle to the ball. He keeps the ball in front, shows a clean exchange, and throws with solid direction to his target. Offensively, this RHH has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and he makes consistent contact. He hits with some strength to the pull side and taps into some lower body.
03/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Plainview (Lubbock), TX
Colton showed some nice improvements in his all around game during his last workout in Plainview. He raised velocity to 60 MPH, hitting grades improved, as well as INF skills. At 1B, Colton fields aggressively, he has a good 1st step to the ball, and he moves well around the bag. He makes plays, keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Colton has a clean arm circle, good balance, and he separates on time. He has a controlled landing toward home plate and is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Colton improved hitting numbers to 25 and 28 respectively. He has a tall/open stance, good balance, and he is short to the ball. Colton swings a level stick and uses his lower body.
06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14)
Colton is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Colton works to make the routine plays and plays through the ball. Colton can improve defensively by getting into an athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and barrels up the baseball. Colton can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Colton gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes on his target. His fastball tops out at 57mph. Breaking ball sits at 47mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits at 51mph with good sinking action. Colton can improve as a pitcher by separating his hands earlier in his motion. With five more years to develop, Colton has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
