09/17/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Conner continues to show the makings of a special type player with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.16. Defensive abilities in the MIF are now outstanding as he displays quick, athletic actions. Feet are aggressive in his lateral movements, showing plus range with a solid backhand. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. He did show at 1B for the first time at the event, also displaying outstanding abilities. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are a plus as he consistently showed the abilities to pick balls out of the dirt. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 88 mph with throws displaying life, accuracy and on line carry to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Conner is an athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.32. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around and plays through balls with his body. He moves well laterally and presents soft /sure hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life (86 mph velocity), carry, and accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential. Hands are quick (95 mph exit velocity) through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball with power to all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, works hard, and is a student of the game. Conner has a ton of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
