03/04/2012 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Conner showed similar abilities on the mound in Indy as he did in previous workouts. He has a loose 3/4 arm slot, smooth separation, and he gets good extension on his pitches. Conner works quickly, he has good mound presence, and he competes in the zone. More eyes to his target and finishing off his pitches will help improve mound effectiveness. Offensively, Conner has an open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, he makes square contact, and he can work the ball gap-to-gap. Conner swings in good rhythm and he uses some lower 1/2.

07/14/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 14-18, 2011 Conner is a solid two-way player at 1B plus on the mound that will graduate in 2013. Foot speed is well below average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver, presenting a big target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and carry. Offensively, Conner shows a solid setup and uses his lower half well through the swing. Swing path is level as he shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers improving as he learns to transfer weight properly through his lower half. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed but get long with barrel getting out around the ball. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-78 mph with slight tail. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying tight spin. Changeup is below average, needing further development to be a quality pitch at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Connor has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
