Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Brannon is a coachable player who brings a positive attitude to the field everyday. At the hotel corner, he shows active footwork as he takes good angles around the GB. He has plus lateral range, funnels smoothly and makes strong/accurate throws across the diamond. As a hitter, Connor shows a balanced setup with patience. He battles at the plate and has some quality at-bats at the event. Swing path is level as he engages his lower 1/2 well, driving the ball. On the bump, this RHP maintains fluid tempo and works at his pace. Arm works loosely & freely as he stays directional toward the dish. He pounds the zone and attacks hitters. He maintains good composure even is things on defense aren't going his way. Working to get ahead of hitters earlier in the count will allow his effectiveness to improve. Also, getting more extension on his finish (towel drill) will help to improve abilities on the mound. A 2017 grad - Connor has a hard working mentality to get to where he wants to be.

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Connor is a hard worker who improved in several areas of his game during his time in Omaha. 60 time is now at 7.86 and arm velocity now at 76 mph. Defensively, he hustles into a square fielding position and tracks the ball into his mitt. He communicates well and is a vocal leader on the field. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will help to improve skills at 3B. With the bat, Brannon has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He swings on a level path and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. Getting more extension through his finish along with driving his lower 1/2 will help to tap into more power potential. On the bump, Connor shows a compact delivery with his eyes on the target. He repeats well and works the ball to both sides of the plate. FB has slight run while CB shows 11/5 shape. Continuing to long toss will help to strengthen his arm and increase velocity on his FB. Connor (only a 2017 grad) still has a few years to develop his skills on the diamond.

04/12/2015 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Connor is an athletic 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. In the IF, he defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process and he plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He has tremendous strength in his swing as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays loose with no real shape as he needs to work to stay on top of the ball. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and throws more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Connor has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
