Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Conner showed improvements in his game during his time at Team One Northeast. He improve his arm grade from 48 to 50 and power grade from 45 to 48. Defensively, Connor makes plays on balls hit his way, he has soft hands, and he fields out in front. He has a loose arm action and throws accurately with some life and carry to his target. Connor can improve defensively if he can lighten his feet and attack the ball more aggressively. Offensively, Connor takes an aggressive cut and has pop in his bat. He has good balance and bat speed and he keeps his head on the ball. Connor will need to loosen his grip and shorten his stroke in order for offensive numbers to continue to climb.

06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2009 Connor is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a two-way player on the mound and at 3B with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically improve. Foot speed is above average at 6.95. Feet are active in taking proper angles in working around ball to play through with momentum to target. Hands are soft and sure but needs to play from the ground up, presenting down and out in front of his body. Defensive abilities in the IF are solid average. Arm strength is solid average showing solid throwing mechanics with accuracy but needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid average with slightly above average power. He handles the inside pitches well and shows a long swing path, staying within and does not over swing. Swing path is long due to an arm bar created in a late load of hands. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the baseball to utilize all fields. He was 2 for 6 at the event with 2 1B. On the mound, fastball shows average tail and works on a strong downhill plane creating tough angles on hitters. He throws a knuckle curve that displays tight spin with late breaking action and a split finger that is solid average with a consistent release point on all pitches. Delivery is solid as he shows good tempo and hides the ball well creating deception. With 3 years to further develop, Cooper has a ton of potential with the making to be a solid, possible two-way player as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
