06/05/2016 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Connor continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. He showed behind the plate and at 3B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, he threw his lowest pop time to date at 1.94. Feet are active as he gains ground and works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through fielding process, showing a sure glove. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach and a feel for the barrel. Hands are quick (89 mph bat speed) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side.

12/06/2015 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Connor is a 5'11/215 lbs backstop that continues to show strength and durability in his actions on the diamond. Offensively, he was square in his stance and had good balance to hit. He got his hands activated and into a strong position to launch, and generated good bat speed through the zone to hit with strength & pop. Eliminating head movement will boost barrel accuracy and allow for even harder contact. Defensively, he was sure to receive, presenting a low target and sticking pitches with a strong wrist. His exchange and footwork were quick and with minor adjustments will be very productive with throws. In all - Connor's game is improving for the next level with increased measurables - as he hit 82 for his raw velo, and 89 for his exit velo.

10/11/2015 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Connor is a strong, thick catcher that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick / clean exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.12-2.25 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills shows as quality tools that will play at the next level. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup and tracks the ball well. Hands are loose / quick and works through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to level out swing path, staying on top of ball. With 2 years to further develop, Connor has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
