Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

01/01/2013 - 2013 Baseball Factory Top 100, powered by Under Armour Advanced RHP who is a strike thrower with a fast paced delivery. FB has life and sits 90-93, breaking ball has depth and tilt and change has some sink.

08/18/2012 - Under Armour All-America Game Jones has a well proportioned frame with wide shoulders at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. He features an excellent feel for pitching, along with command rivaled by few in the 2013 class. His fastball has arm side life in the low 90s, and goes with a mid 70s slider and upper 70s change. He pounds the zone with this three pitch mix, and offers some deception to hitters with a quick tempo delivery. His arm works back and through in sequence with his delivery, allowing him to find a consistent release point and command his pitches. Among the more polished RHP in the 2013 class.

07/13/2012 - 2012 Team One South Showcase Connor topped out at 91 MPH on the mound during his time at Team One South. He showed a long / loose arm action, good direction toward home, and good extension on his pitches. A softer landing, more eyes on target, and work on his CH can help mound effectiveness improve.

10/01/2011 - Team One Futures East 2011 Jones featured command of a three pitch mix, was impressive in his ability to attack the zone and for the life on his pitches. His fastball had run and sink at 86-87, and he kept it down in the zone very well. His change may have been his next best pitch, thrown at 73-75 it had life down in the zone as well. His breaking ball had slurvy action at 73, and he was able to use it to get to fastball and/or change. Delivery was balanced, and with some core rotation he was able to hide the ball while maintaining the ability to repeat his release point. Arm worked clean and loose. University of Virginia commit.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
