11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Connor is an athletic built switch-hitting 2B/RHP prospect who has good potential. At the plate, Connor has square stances with a firm front side. He maintains direction with his stride and has a good load with smooth rhythm. Connor maintains a centered balance with a solid base. His swing path is direct and he gets good extension at contact. Connor sprays the ball to all fields with an approach producing contact. In the field, Connor has an effective pre-pitch and plays with active footwork. He has agile actions and presents his glove as he fields the ball in a low position. Connor has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. He plays with momentum through his release and his throws are online. On the mound, Connor has a balanced, on-time deliver with a clean arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. He stays square and does a nice job rotating towards home plate. Connor features a fastball with run and 11-5 breaking curveball. Overall, Connor has good talent on both sides of the ball and a bright future as he continues to develop.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Connor is a very coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time in Arizona. With the bat, this switch hitter shows similarly from both sides of the plate. He has rhythm to load and waits for his pitch. He gets good separation and swings on a short/direct path to and through the zone. He barrels the ball up and drives the middle of the field. At 2B - Connor hustles around the GB and into a square fielding position. He low, from the ground-up and gathers smoothly with a clean exchange to throw. He turns the DP efficiently and moves well around the 2B bag. On the mound, this RHP controls the game, throwing strikes with both of his pitches. He maintains fluid tempo and works at his pace. Arm works loose & free as he repeats his delivery well. FB has slight sink with some arm-side run and will get GB outs. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape with good action when he stays on top. Working on finishing with more extension (towel drill) will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. Only a 2019 grad - Laeng will only continue to progress as he gets stronger.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Connor improved during his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. His grip strength increased, as well as his velo and 5.10.5 times. Defensively, Connor works laterally with efficiency and good body control. He creates good angles around the ball and works through, gaining ground on his throws. On the mound, Connor pounded the zone with 3 pitches (FB, CB, CH). He got to a good balance point where he used his lower half to drive to his target. Working with a good tempo was Connor's strong suit as he was able to keep hitters off balance. At the dish, Connor shows good, smooth actions from both sides of the plate. From both sides he gets to a good balance point, keeping his weight back ready to fire his hips through the zone. Connor shows signs of potential as he physically matures and will begin to see himself driving the ball to all fields.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
