Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Connor is a tremendous athlete who has a bright future both as a RHP and on the football field as a QB. On the mound in Arizona, the 6'2” right-hander flashed three quality pitches, all thrown for strikes. He has a clean, repeatable delivery and a very quick arm that allowed him to throw his fastball in the upper 80s and command it. His high 3/4 slot gets good downhill plane to his stuff, and he always appears to be in control on the mound. Connor's secondary offerings include a 2-plane curve that has depth and a change with fading action. His velocity differential for the 3 pitches is very good, adding to their effectiveness. Connor can also play all over the field as a defender. He played the OF at this event, and at his first Baseball Factory event back in 2012 we saw him catch. He also swings the bat with authority, as evidenced by his 90 mph exit velocity. Overall, this is a special prospect who is one of the top pitchers in the 2018 class, and also is a major football recruit. These are the guys that baseball needs to hold onto.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Connor is a talented two way player that pitches and also plays outfield. On the mound he has a good presence and feel for pitching. He uses his lower half well and he has a deceptive / repeatable delivery. He pounds the zone with his fastball that topped at 86mph and he has a wipe out slider with a 10/4 shape and good depth. In the OF he has quick feet, gets behind the ball well, and has good body control with his approach. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws with carry. At the plate he has a good load, strong balance, and a nice rhythm. He stays quiet throughout his swing and he stays up the middle with his approach.

08/10/2014 - National Tryout - Reno, NV Connor is a talented 2-way player who has made great improvements in his game since we last saw him in 2012. On the bump, this RHP has a deceptive delivery firing a 3-pitch mix from a 3/4 arm slot. FB shows sink as it cracks the mitt at 84 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape while changeup shows slight run. He repeats his delivery well and works in-line toward the plate. In the OF, Connor has quick footwork as he moves well laterally covering the gaps. He plays through the ball with athletic actions and fires throws with carry into his target. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced/relaxed approach with fluid rhythm. He connects and drives the ball with pop using the entire field. A projectable 2-way player - Connor has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Connor is a young player who shows potential behind the plate and on the mound. Behind the dish, he shows soft/sure hands with an athletic set up. His feet are agile and arms is accurate, showing lift at times. Connor can continue to work on a quicker release and shortening his arm action to improve his pop times. On the mound, Conner shows good separation and rhythm, his arm action is sound with good extension. He can work on making sure he does not close his body off to much when his hips coil. Keep shoulders and front side on target. Overall Connor shows the ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes. Offensively, his swing is aggressive with good power and a line drive approach. Lower half gets through with his hands getting back into a good load position. Connor needs to make sure that he is getting his front foot down in enough time. This will help with timing and letting the ball travel. With another year to develop Connor shows a great foundation of skills that should continue to improve as he continues to physical mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
