11/06/2016 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Connor continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.16. Defensive abilities in the MIF have improved, now showing well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well as he covers a lot of ground, displaying range. He is aggressive but will benefit by working to get behind balls more and utilize 2 hands through the fielding process. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved a squared / athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap to gap pop.

11/15/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Marlborough (Boston), MA Connor shows consistency in his game. At the plate, this righty shows a balanced setup with patience, waiting for hit pitch. He takes a hack through a level path, connects and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. He squares the ball up and finishes with extension. At SS, Connor shows active footwork moving around the GB from right to left. He funnels smoothly and plays through the ball toward his target. In the OF, he tracks down fly-balls to his right and left working into position behind the ball. He secures it with 2-hands and gains ground working in-line toward his target. Continuing to develop arm strength through a long toss program will aid in his defensive development. A 2018 grad - Connor still has time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

11/08/2015 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Connor is a skilled R/R 2-way player as a SS/OF. At SS, he shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He makes the backhand play smoothly, works in-line toward his target and fires accurate throws across the diamond. Working lower from the ground-up will help to improve his skills in the MIF. In the OF, Connor hustles to track down fly-balls to his right and left. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this righty shows a patient approach, waiting for his pitch. He barrels the ball up and works to drive the middle of the field. Engaging more of his lower 1/2 throughout the swing will help to increase power at the plate. Only a 2018 grad - Svab still has a ton of time to develop his skills on the diamond to get to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
