Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Connor proved to be a hard working, coachable player who brings his all to the diamond. On the bump, he works through smooth rhythm and a repeatable delivery. He works the ball all around the dish and pitches to contact. Raising his arm slot will allow him to get on top of the ball which will help to improve command. At 1B, Todd shows good prep and works to get into position behind the ground ball. He takes good angles and can move right and left well. At the plate, this lefty gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. He is aggressive and takes a hack, firing his backside lower 1/2. Working on his front foot timing will help to increase contact consistency. With Connor's ability to make adjustments quickly, he should have some success on the diamond this upcoming season.

06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Connor continues to improve defensively, at the plate and on the mound. As a LHP, Connor has improved his finish with his chest over the lead knee most of the time and should continue to work at it. He has good movement on all of his pitches and flashes some downhill action which we need to make consistent with good arm position. Pitching aggressively to contact, improving command and continuing to work a long toss program are the areas that will help Connor's development continue. As a 1B, Connor still displays good foot work around the bag, an accurate throwing arm and an improved understanding of handling short hops. Continued work at playing lower with early glove position out front will help numbers continued to rise. At the plate, Connor was aggressive early in the count and showed the ability to stay inside the ball while remaining aggressive. He will benefit from shortening swing, keeping top hand direct/downhill and quickening bat speed to improve overall quality of contact as well as power production. Overall, Connor has gotten better since the last time we saw him and should continue to work the drills covered at camp to continue his progression.

04/21/2013 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Conner is a thin-athletic 1B/LHP that will graduate in 2015. Defensively, he shows an athletic fielding position with the ball out in front and low. Footwork is quick and displays the ability to play through the ball. Grades will improve as he works from the ground up on picks. On the mound, Conner has a loose and easy arm action with a controlled balance point and on time separation. His delivery is smooth with level shoulders and in line direction. With more extension and finish on his pitches, reaching a complete athletic position should help overall grades. At the plate, Conner shows a good load getting his hands back and foot down. His rhythm is smooth and makes consistent contact. If he can improve on using more lower body as well as staying inside the ball, hitting grades will improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
