10/11/2015 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Connor is a tall, lanky RHP/SS that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. He shows quick hands, generating bat speed that work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At SS, he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movements, flashing range. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process with defensive grade improving as he presents hands more out front. On the mound, arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break and flashes potential when he stays on top. Changeup shows sinking action but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program, works to throw more strikes, and develops better off speed stuff. With 2 years to further develop, Connor has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.
