Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Conrad continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved, now showing well above average as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. He displays a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters throwing strikes with all his pitches. He shows good composure and competes on the mound. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with a 2B. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active and he displays a clean glove but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard, and is a great teammate.

11/06/2016 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Conrad is a tall, solid RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields, flashing gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He tracks balls well and displays a clean glove but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he has a very repeatable delivery and displays loose, clean arm action. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 75-77 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball ranges from 63-65 mph with 11/5 break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup as it sits from 72-73 mph with arm side run. He can improve as a pitcher by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. Conrad has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
