12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Cooper is an athletic and talented catching prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Cooper starts in an athletic primary stance, he presents a low/target, and tries to work behind the ball. When blocking, he controls the ball but he needs to improve his ability to anticipate balls in the dirt and lead the block with his glove to be more consistent. When throwing, he replaces his feet and looses power. He needs to continue to create momentum into the ball with his lower half and be more explosive with his back side. At the plate, Cooper starts in an open stance and loads his hands back. He rotates his lower half, he stays balance through contact, and keeps his head on the ball. Cooper will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Cooper is a lean, lanky catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Cooper has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

10/22/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Cooper is a C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Cooper sets up in a relaxed primary stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He moves on time and centers the ball with a good spine angle when blocking. He replaces his feet well to throw, making a clean exchange and keeping his throws accurate to 2B. Cooper can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets into a small load. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Taking a level swing to the ball can help Cooper improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Cooper has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
