08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18)
Cooper continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 69-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his feet in taking proper routes / angles in working to get behind balls. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Cooper is a lanky, athletic LHP/OF graduating in 2021. In the field, Cooper shows efficient feet and gains ground, allowing him to make plays on hard to reach balls in the gaps. He gets into an athletic fielding position, staying behind the ball on pop ups and grounders. He shows a loose arm action from a 3/4 arm slot and shows consistent accuracy on his throws. He uses his momentum to throw the ball to his targets on a line. By charging the ball more aggressively and playing through the baseball, he could add velocity to his throws. At the plate, he shows a tall, repeatable set up and can drive the ball to the opposite field. Cooper could hit the ball harder and more consistently if he keeps his balance centered through his swing and develops a quieter load. On the mound, Cooper shows polished pitching mechanics. He throws his FB, CB and CH for strikes. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, hides the ball well and shows a good front side. With a long toss program and strength from natural growth, Cooper will develop more velocity on his pitches. With another two years of development and size, Cooper could play at the next level and make an impact.
