01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Redding continues to shine as a solid SS. Defensively, he presents his glove well and plays thru the ball to his target. Increased arm strength will only benefit him for the next level. Offensively, he maintains good balance, he has a short stroke, and he gets good extension thru the ball at contact. Cooper has skills and should get some looks to play at the next level.

08/10/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 2 Cooper continues to show solid all around ability to his game. Everything was similar to his previous tryout but we had the ability to get to know him better as a person and a worker. He is a polite kid willing to make changes to continue to improve his skill set along with working hard and enjoying the game. He continues to show good hands and feet defensively with good balance and big play potential. His arm works well showing a quick exchange and making accurate throws across the diamond. He fields a bit high at times and needs to continue to get his glove out front more. At the plate he shows a clean setup, quick hands and good barrel accuracy. A better pre-pitch load will help him stay back on the ball better and will help him get more from his lower half to drive the ball to the gaps. Overall long toss, agility drills and constant fielding reps will help Cooper prepare for the next level.

07/09/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 9-13, 2011 Cooper showed solid improvements both offensively and defensively during his time in Cape Cod. He raised his tool grades in every category and is now a Class 4 SS. At the plate, Cooper is a quiet hitter with quick hands and a still head. He stays inside the ball, he can spray to all fields, and he has pop into the gaps. Cooper hit a homerun in game play. In the INF, Cooper takes good angles to the ball, his hands play well, and he feet are quick. He fields out in front of his body, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target.

04/10/2011 - College PREP - Philadelphia, PA Cooper is a young, athletic SS who will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Cooper has soft / sure hands, fluid footwork, and he looks the ball into his glove. He moves well laterally, fields in a low / athletic position, and he makes plays. Cooper has a good idea in the INF, and his exchange is clean. He throws with a long, arm action with accuracy and carry to his target. Defensive abilities can further improve if Cooper can quicken his exchange, play through his throws, and shorten his arm action some. Offensively, Cooper has a square set-up, proper load, and a short / square stride. He has good balance, average bat speed, and his swing is level. Cooper makes square / consistent contact, he has a middle approach, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Cooper can raise his hitting grades if he can let the ball travel deeper into the hitting zone and improve his rhythm.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
