ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

05/25/2019 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Cooper is a lean, athletic OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is excellent as indicated by his 60 time of 6.84. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (82 mph velocity) on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph on a downhill plane with late life. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Cooper has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
