09/24/2021 - MS All-Region Tournament Cooper continues to showcase his baseball abilities at the Middle School All Region event. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to increase foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his knuckleball with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Cooper continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with a 3B. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He work to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 62 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Cooper is a 2027 1B/RHP prospect. He shows off good size for his age. At the plate, he does a very good job of getting into a strong launch position. Does an excellent job of getting his barrel on plane early and extending through the baseball. Shows an advanced line drive focused approach. Lots of bat speed and late bat whip. Hit a very hard single through the middle of the field in game action. In the field, he does a good job of activating his feet with prep step. Fields from a low position with his hands out front. Does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly on throws. On the mound, he does an excellent job of pitching ahead and commanding the strike zone. Showed feel for a CB as his secondary offering. Pitched out of the stretch only. Cooper is a talented young prospect that we hope to see continued development from in the future.

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona This 2026 graduate showed huge improvements on both his 60 yard dash and his broad jump from our first viewing of him 4 months ago; lowering his 60 yard dash 1.3 seconds now coming in at 8.60 seconds and going up 17 inches on his broad jump up to 5'11". The training he is doing back at home is working. We do want him to play a little more relaxed to maximize results, but overall he is on the right track. On the mound, Schlager has good poise. In the outfield, he is engaged and transfers from glove to hand are quick. He hit a baseball off of the tee at 72mph and a lot of that velocity is coming from his strong base (legs). We look forward to seeing Schlager continue his rise on the diamond.

07/14/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Lake Elsinore (Los Angeles), CA Cooper is a RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. On the mound, Cooper separates his hands on time and works with a loose arm. He stays inline toward the plate and extends through his release, finishing square to his target. Cooper shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 61mph. Breaking ball sits from 50-53mph with 11-5 break. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Cooper improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, leading to solid contact. Cooper can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. With six more years to develop, Cooper has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
