06/10/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South
Cooper continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 93 mph. Fastball showed range of 88-93 mph with arm side run and sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. Split finger is a tremendous pitch as he maintains arm speed with plus sinking action and will get outs at all levels. Cooper has a tremendous upside on the mound and will be a solid draft guy in 2018.
01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Cooper had an excellent outing at the UAAAPS Tournament in Arizona. The 6'6" RHP was dominant, showing a 3-pitch mix from a coordinated, repeatable delivery. His arm is very clean and quick through release resulting in an extremely easy 86-87 mph velocity. That number should spike in the near future. Cooper's downhill plane makes his fastball very hard to barrel up for hitters, and his slider has late tilt at 79-80 mph and was also very effective. His change is a quality third pitch that rounds out his arsenal. Cooper filled up the strike zone (8 Ks in his outing) and was in total control. He is a pitching prospect to follow closely.
