Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Cooper is a tall and athletic 3B RHP in the 2025 class. He runs well (7.14 60) with his 6ft 1/155 frame and looks comfortable on the dirt. He shows excellent ball/glove security and can redirect the baseball with quick and accurate actions. Arm plays at 86 and adds another level to his plus defending abilities. On the mound, he operates with a 2-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. He has repeatable mechanics and pounds the zone. His FB sat 75-6 with slight cutting actions. His CB ranged 65-6 with 11-5 shape. Scouts feel that he should continue to develop on the mound to increase his stock. At the plate, he has a patient approach and comfortable actions. He is on-time with the baseball and stays inside his feet well. Bat speed plays at 85 exit velo and uses a direct path. Overall, Cooper is a special player with a lot of upside.

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Cooper is a 2025 3B prospect from Newburyport, MA. At 3B, he displays active feet and has good range to the glove side. He gets in a squared fielding position with good rhythm and presents his hands out in front of his body. He does a good job of working right to left and creating momentum towards his target. His exchange is clean and he shows off a quick release and makes accurate throws. His double play feeds are impressive. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance and gets a good load. He has a ton of intent in the box and a solid base. He has some rhythm and shows off impressive bat speed with an on-plane swing. He works hard to include his lower half consistently. With 2+ more years of high school, Cooper should develop into an intriguing prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
