07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Corey continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Corey is a lean, athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.16. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with zip (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are strong and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He shows a feel for his changeup as he maintains arm speed but will benefit by building more movement on pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Corey has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
