03/26/2017 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Corey continues to show progress in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, displaying gap to gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive, works to get behind balls, and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Corey is an athletic OF who continues to show well on the diamond. At the plate, this strong RHH displays a balanced setup with a solid base. He likes the pitch middle in and pulls it with some pop. Hands are quick as he generates bat speed and consistently squares the ball up. In the OF, Austin takes good angles to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. This strong/projectable OF has upside and should find success in this his senior year.

08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Corey is a well-built outfield prospect who is a great teammate and does everything he can to improve. He shows natural hitting instincts with the raw power in his bat to get peoples' attention. He has strong, quick hands to whip the bat through the zone and make solid contact. His swing path is level and the ball explodes off his bat as he hits balls gap to gap. Corey shows off fluid actions in the outfield with agility that gives him good range. He fields the ball in an athletic position and has an efficient crow hop to release and show off his accurate arm. Working on reads and routes on fly balls is the last step to becoming a very good defensive outfielder. Corey is a good kid and ballplayer who looks like a prospect for the next level.

07/13/2016 - College PREP - Washington, DC Corey is a broad, athletic OF who has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.21. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting and power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level, aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth, athletic actions. He takes proper routes and angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands and feet work well together with accuracy and on line carry to his throws. Corey has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
