07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase
Corey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, he threw his best pop time at 2.10 with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he uses his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 2 with a BB.

Corey is an athletic catcher who also plays OF. Behind the plate, Corey has sure hands, loose actions, and he looks the ball in well. He takes good angles to block, deadens it softly, and he gets to his feet quickly. Corey has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws with a short / quick arm with carry to his target. In the OF, Corey has soft / sure hands, active feet, and he fields in a low / athletic position. He is aggressive to the ball, he plays through, and he throws with a loose arm action with accuracy to his target. Working behind the ball more will only help OF skills improve. At the plate, Corey has a square / athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He has an aggressive swing, good balance, and he is short and level to the ball. Corey swings in good rhythm and he uses some lower 1/2. Hitting can improve by being more fluid and by using more lower 1/2.
