05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Corey is a class of 2022 C prospect. At the plate, he hits from an athletic stance and shows clean rhythm and timing into the hitting zone. Stays balanced throughout the swing. Shows power to all parts of the field and had exit velos up to 92 MPH. Does a good job of getting extension through the baseball. Lots of strength and athleticism through the swing. Behind the plate, he shows good footwork and stays in line with second base on his throw downs. Does a good job receiving out front and getting the thumb underneath. Shows quick and athletic footwork. Throws were online and on the bag. Does a good job getting out of the blocking position on his block and recovers. Corey is a good player that we hope to see again at future events.

04/28/2019 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Corey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get body down sooner to improve grade. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/08/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Corey is a hard working and talented 2022 prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Hitting Weekend. Corey starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He creates backside rotation in his lower half and has a simple approach. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, keep his head down at contact, and consistently barrel the baseball. Corey will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Corey improved hitting grades and lowered pop times to 2nd base during his last workout with the Factory. Hitting and power improved to 42 and 40. Corey showed good balance, fast bat speed, and a short/direct barrel to the ball. He has quick hands, makes hard contact, and has pop in his bat. Behind the plate, Corey lowered pop times to 2.37. He sits in quietly, centers the ball well, and his hands are soft. Corey has fluid footwork, he blocks the baseball well, and throws with carry and accuracy to 2nd base. Corey is a nice young player and will only get better. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Hitting
1. More load
2. Lower half
Defense
1. Lower stance
2. Long toss

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Corey continues to show progress in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he shows best through a crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.63 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft with receiving grade improving as he develops a best setup and glove position. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Corey is a solid, athletic catcher. Behind the plate, feet are active with a quiet body as he centers low pitches off his chest. He has a clean exchange and fires accurate throws down to 2B. With the bat, this RHH displays an athletic setup. He stays balanced throughout contact as he drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicker footwork
2. Develop softer glove
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Develop rhythm
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
