06/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Portland, OR Corey is a strong C/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Corey shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He displays great pocket awareness when receiving and gets rid of the ball quickly, making on-line throws through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load well and gets good extension through the ball, spraying to all fields. On the mound, Corey operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph. Curveball sits from 58-61mph with 12-6 break. Slider sits from 60-64mph with with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 62-63mph with good arm side run and sinking action. Overall, Corey is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

08/11/2019 - College PREP - Springfield, OR Corey is an athletic and scrappy 2022 catching prospect. Behind the dish, Corey has a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When throwing, he has quick hands, gains ground, and makes accurate throws. When blocking, Corey leads with his glove and has a soft chest to control the ball. At the plate, Corey starts in a tall stance and wraps his load. He has some hip rotation, gets the barrel inside the ball, and has extension through contact. On the bump, Corey gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a good arm action. He throws his fastball for strikes, creates some tilt on his curveball, and throws his slider down in the zone. Corey will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
