06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Corey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.43 runner. He utilizes his feet well, displaying proper foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to be present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, hitting grade has improved as well through a balanced setup. Hands work inside the ball and he utilizes all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 4. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape and shows flashes of a quality pitch when he stays on top. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and is very coachable.
