11/18/2012 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT
Corey improved in a few areas of his game since we last saw him. He ran his lowest 60 time to date, now running a 7.50. His arm grade also increased thanks to accurate throws through a quick/clean exchange. In the INF, he works around the ground ball well and presents his glove, fielding the ball out in front. He is sure handed and plays through the ball to his target. Continued increase in arm strength will only benefit Corey's defensive game. As a hitter, Romanetz displays a square/crouched setup, solid load and short stride. He is short/compact, squaring up the ball and hitting line drives. More lower 1/2 will only help to increase power.
09/15/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18)
Corey had a good weekend with us at The Baseball Factory. He has a nice simple set up, with a very simple swing. The one thing that Corey needs to focus on is getting his hands and hips to work together; he tends to get the hands in front of the hips, taking away from his power and his barrel control. Also he tends to let his bat exit the hitting zone too early, he needs focus on keeping the barrel in zone by developing good extension through the swing, by using the top hand. Allowing the barrel to stay in the zone as long as possible will allow Corey to be a bit early or late, and still make good contact with the barrel. Corey is a good all-around hitter that needs to make small adjustments to make the next step as hitter.

Corey is an athletic 2B that will graduate in 2013. Feet are active as he moves well laterally and attacks ground balls with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more, improve foot speed, and play through balls more to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands work through a level swing path with hitting grades improving as he learns to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Corey has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
