01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Corey is an athletic 2B/C that will graduate in 2023. At 2B, Corey shows an athletic pre-pitch with quick and active footwork taking a +1st step to the ball getting into an athletic fielding position. He fields out in front with a good glove and makes clean exchanges to get rid of the ball. His arm action is short delivering the ball to the target with accuracy and carry. Hitting, Corey sets up in a square stance with high hands. His stride is short as he rotates against a firm front side getting the barrel on plane. He makes consistent contact using a solid line drive approach. Catching, Corey shows a relaxed primary stance as he presents a good target tracking the ball all the way in. From his secondary he gets rid of the ball with a short arm action putting the ball on the bag with accuracy. Blocking Corey centers the ball well showing good lateral agility. Corey shows the ability to play multiple positions and we look forward to seeing his progress.

12/14/2019 - Nor Cal Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Corey is an athletic C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Corey shows active footwork and moves well to his glove side when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. Keeping his glove down when blocking can help Corey improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He gets into his load well and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Corey can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. Overall, Corey is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

05/19/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Corey is a C/2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Corey moves efficiently to block and receives with a firm glove. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Making a quicker exchange can help Corey improve as a C. At 2B, Corey shows active footwork and moves well to his glove side. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Corey can improve as a C by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and is smooth getting back into his load. He takes a level swing and hits against a strong front side, leading to solid contact to all fields. 08/06/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Corey is a talented shortstop prospect who has a strong, well-built frame and graduates in 2023. In the field, Corey plays with quick footwork and shows solid range to his glove side. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low position. Corey has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release and shows accurate, on-line throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Corey has an athletic setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He takes a good load and shows quick hands. Corey has an on-plane swing path producing square contact. He has a line drive approach and flashes good backspin with his contact. Overall, Corey has talent on both sides of the ball with the right approach giving him good potential to take his game to the next level.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Corey is an athletic SS and RHP, who showed his passion for the game during his time in Arizona, through his terrific hustle and attentiveness to coaches. In the infield, he prepared himself pre-pitch to attack the baseball with a low center of gravity, no matter where it was hit. While fielding he remained low and athletic, as he presented his hands out in front and worked through the baseball cleanly. Arm proved to be strong and accurate; he showed the ability to make clean throws on a line consistently. Offensively, he was aggressive in attacking the ball, as he worked from a balanced setup with a strong lower 1/2. Hands were loose and quick; they were thrown directly at the baseball no matter the pitch location. Also a pitcher, his windup was smooth and easy; he displayed a good tempo, a strong balance point and good direction to his target. He featured 2 pitches off the bump, including a fastball that was thrown for strikes well, which sat in the low 50's, and a curveball that broke on an 11-5 plane which gave hitters a different look at the plate. As a whole, Corey is a gamer who clearly shows that he wants to improve every time he steps on the diamond. He has a bright future in this game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
