01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Corey is an athletic SS and RHP, who showed his passion for the game during his time in Arizona, through his terrific hustle and attentiveness to coaches. In the infield, he prepared himself pre-pitch to attack the baseball with a low center of gravity, no matter where it was hit. While fielding he remained low and athletic, as he presented his hands out in front and worked through the baseball cleanly. Arm proved to be strong and accurate; he showed the ability to make clean throws on a line consistently. Offensively, he was aggressive in attacking the ball, as he worked from a balanced setup with a strong lower 1/2. Hands were loose and quick; they were thrown directly at the baseball no matter the pitch location. Also a pitcher, his windup was smooth and easy; he displayed a good tempo, a strong balance point and good direction to his target. He featured 2 pitches off the bump, including a fastball that was thrown for strikes well, which sat in the low 50's, and a curveball that broke on an 11-5 plane which gave hitters a different look at the plate. As a whole, Corey is a gamer who clearly shows that he wants to improve every time he steps on the diamond. He has a bright future in this game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
