01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Corey showed good size, hard work, and a good attitude during his time in Pirate City. He sits in well behind the plate, holds a good target, and communicates well with the pitchers. He tracks to his glove, tries hard when blocking, and throws with solid direction to 2nd base. At the plate, Corey has an open stance, comfortable hands, and he hits line drives. He swings on plane, keeps a quiet head, and he can hit hard to the pull side.

10/19/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Corey is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Corey presents a good target and receives with a strong glove. He is agile moving to block and creates a good spine angle to keep the ball in front of him. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Corey improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He gets his hands activated on time and works to barrel up the baseball. Corey can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. With six more years to develop, Corey has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/11/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE Corey is a C/1B prospect who will graduate in 2025. Behind the plate, Corey centers the ball when blocking and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. At 1B, Corey makes the routine plays and makes good DP feeds. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a level swing, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. More athletic stance
2. Blocking range
3. Quicker release
Infield
1. Footwork
2. Lateral range
3. Lower fielding position
Hitting
1. Square stride
2. Smoother load
3. Lower half drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
