Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Cory is a tall and lean 2B RHP that graduates in 2023. At 2B, Cory shows athletic movements taking a +1st step to the ball. He fields the ball athletically with his hands out in front of his body allowing him to make clean exchanges to throw. He creates momentum towards his target and gets rid of the ball with a clean arm action delivering the ball with accuracy and carry. At the plate, Cory sets up in a square stance with loose hands showing good rhythm as he takes a short stride. He keeps his balance centered as he delivers a smooth swing making consistent contact to all fields. We look forward to seeing his progress. On the mound, Cory uses a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. Pitching, he starts square on the rubber as he works to get to a good balance point. Working on creating better direction will help Cory be more consistent with his pitches. Cory can improve his overall game by getting a speed program and getting stronger. Overall, Cory is young and has several years to develop.

08/04/2019 - College PREP - Gillette, WY Cory is a 2B/C prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Cory shows active footwork and shows good range to his backhand side. He fields with a firm glove and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent to his target. Behind the plate, Cory blocks well to his glove side and sticks the ball well when receiving. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. Overall, Cory is a talented prospect who should find success going into his freshman season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
