01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Courtland is an athletic and talented 2020 catching prospect. Behind the dish, Courtland starts in a relaxed primary and has an athletic secondary stance. He presents a low/early glove, has soft hands, and presents strikes well when receiving. When throwing, he has a clean exchange, quick feet, and a quick release. When blocking, he leads with his glove and creates a good angle over the ball. At the plate, Courtland starts in an open stance and is on time to the fastball. In game he has a middle approach and showed barrel control. He stays flat to the ball, creates backside drive with his lower half, and stays balanced through contact. Courtland will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/02/2018 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Courtland is an athletic and strong 2020 Catching prospect. Behind the dish, Courtland has a balanced primary and athletic secondary stance. When throwing Courtland exchanges the ball in front of his body, creates momentum in his lower half, and has a quick release. At the plate, Courtland is consistently on time and shows gap to gap power. He stays balanced through contact, creates backside rotation, and attacks the inside part of the ball. Courtland will continue to improve with experience and we look forward to seeing him at the Pre Season Under Armour All American event.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
