He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and shows good gap to gap pop. On the mound, Coy keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and extends through on his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Coy works with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 72-73mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
