01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Crews is an exciting combination of speed, athleticism and quality LH bat. He has a natural, rhythmic swing with good eye/hand coordination - leading to lots of barrel contact. He generates some speed through the hitting zone and has some loft to his path making future power a probability. As a defender, Crews uses his first step quickness to lead to plus range in the infield. His sure hands and good reads help to make him a polished defender. He also runs well enough (6.65 in the 60) to play other spots on the field, including CF. Overall, this is a 2017 grad with a mature, polished game.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Crews is a great team leader on the mound and in the field. At SS, he shows quick/active footwork hustling around the GB. Smooth/athletic actions allow him to play low through the GB with a quick exchange to throw. He moves well laterally and doesn't let much get by. With the bat, this LHH tracks the ball into the zone and waits for his pitch. He gets good hand separation working back into a strong load/launch position. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to spray it to all fields. Once on base he is aggressive and isn't afraid to steal a bag or 2. On the mound, Taylor works quickly at his pace. FB ranges from 72-74 mph as he throws strikes consistently. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape as he mixes well. Striding square and allowing his body to finish with extension will help him to progress on the bump. This 2017 grad has skills with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
