Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1BPosition Projection

06/05/2016 - College PREP - River Forest (Chicago), IL Cristian is a 2017 grad with a big frame. Defensively, he projects best at 1B at the next level as he plays low, fields ground balls in front and picks very well at the corner. Sports a good arm and with good footwork, would be a plus defender at the next level. Offensively, a RHH with big power continues to strengthen the case to stay at a CIF spot. An explosive lower half, good timing and barrel accuracy allow him to be a true gap to gap power guy. He will be an impact hitter moving forward.

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Christian is a big strong RHP/3B. In the field Christian shows an athletic fielding position with the ability to square the ball up. His exchange is clean with good arm strength across the diamond. He can continue to focus on using his legs to throw in the infield to help with consistency. Also by focusing on a lower fielding position and working to improve foot speed, Christian will continue to see improvement in his skills in the infield. Christian shows the most potential on the mound, with good run to his fastball and a great feel and movement on his changeup. He also displayed to ability to make adjustments showing the willingness to listen and learn. When Christian reaches a strong balance point he shows excellent control of his fastball. As soon as he starts rushing his balance point, his separation is late and his arm has a hard time catching up with his body. If he can focus on the consistency of the balance point, Christian has a bright future on the mound. At the plate, Christian shows solid power mainly to the pull side. He squares the ball up with a good lower half reaching a strong load. If he can focus on taking a shorter stride, making sure he gets his foot down and keeping his swing path shorter Christian should see improvements in his hitting grades. With High School around the corner, Christian shows the ability to compete at the next level and with the hard work showed in Vero Beach the potential to be a very special player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
